Crating and Packaging Artworks with Artil
We study, calculate, and produce custom packaging tailored to each artwork, utilizing our expertise to meet your requirements.
There are several types of packaging, each with its specificities that we would be happy to detail for you :
- Museum-type crates (climate-controlled crate, sliding crate, display case, compartmentalized crate)
- Counter-crates or double-crates
- Foam-core cardboard boxes
- Travel frames or open-framed crates for storage and/or road transportation
- Gallery crates
- Wrap crates (triple corrugated cardboard box, wooden barred, lined with foam)
- Membrane box for small fragments or numismatics
- Careful padding
Careful padding encompasses all forms of packaging that can be used to protect an artwork during transport without a crate. We offer a choice of various packaging ranges and neutral or chemically specific materials, including vacuum-sealing for maritime transport of easily oxidizable artworks.
The meticulous padding of a painting, for instance, involves three steps :
- Melinex or Tyvek on the pictorial layer
- Padding under bubble wrap and profiling for frame protection
- Placing cardboard sheets on the front and back of the artwork
